The 19th ASEAN Military Intelligence Meeting (AMIM-19), hosted by Cambodia under the theme “Solidarity for Harmonised Security”, was concluded in Phnom Penh on Mar. 15.
According to a press release AKP received this evening, Lt. Gen. Hun Manith, Director General of the General Department of Research and Intelligence at the Ministry of National Defence who chaired the regional meeting, stated that the presence of the military intelligence delegations of the ASEAN member countries in this physical meeting was a testament to the spirit of good cooperation, solidarity and friendship between the ASEAN nations.
The meeting focused on regional security issues, new developments, traditional and non-traditional security competition, especially terrorism and COVID-19 issue, which have seriously affected the socio-economic sector.
The leaders of the ASEAN military intelligence delegations exchanged views on joint security issues in the region. In addition, they decided to promote, strengthen and expand cooperation, continue to share information in a timely manner and jointly address various issues threatening the security sector to achieve a strong ASEAN military intelligence community for peace, stability, prosperity. They also agreed to continue to promote and maintain the ASEAN centrality, unity and unity.
At the end of the meeting, Lt. Gen. Hun Manith handed over the AMIM chairmanship to the leader of Indonesian military intelligence delegation who will chair the 20th ASEAN Military Intelligence Meeting in 2023.
