Taipei, President Chain Store Corp., which operates the 7Eleven convenience store chain in Taiwan, is to set up a combination store in conjunction with Domino's Pizza in Taipei's Xinyi Commercial District to provide freshly baked pizza, the company said Monday.
The store will feature a pizza kitchen to allow consumers to observe the process of baking pizza and to enjoy freshly baked pizza at the site.
Targeting consumers in the busy and upmarket Xinyi District, the store will offer pizza mainly in single and double servings priced at NT$89NT$208 (US$2.9US$6.77) each, according to the company.
The crossindustry alliance makes 7Eleven the first convenience store chain in Taiwan to sell freshly made pizza and is expected to increase sales and consumption of other instant food products for lunch and dinner, as well as carbonated soft drinks, tea and other beverages at the store, by 10 percent20 percent, the company said.
Another leading convenience store chain, Taiwan FamilyMart Co., Ltd. has also formed strategic alliances with five other industries to provide catering, fresh food and groceries, health food products, financial services, hightech and customerfriendly financial services and laundry services at selected combination stores.
Taiwan has over 10,000 convenience stores and has the second highest convenience store density in the world. Due to market saturation, major convenience store chains have been expanding their combo store networks by forming strategic alliances with other industries.
