Taipei--All 22,000 tickets to two additional concerts by pop diva A-mei (???) in Kaohsiung were snatched up within 45 seconds of going on sale Saturday, organizers said that day.
Tickets for the two extra "A-mei Utopia 2.0 Carnival" concerts at the Kaohsiung Arena on Aug. 18 and 25 went on sale at noon on Saturday, but were sold out almost immediately.
Tickets were priced from NT$800 (US$26) to NT$3,600.
A-mei added the two extra dates to her "A-mei Utopia 2.0 Carnival" concert tour to meet overwhelming demand. All 66,000 tickets to the six original concerts were snapped up in eight minutes after going on sale on Jan. 15.
The concerts will take place between Aug. 12 and 27.
A-mei, a member of Taiwan's indigenous Puyuma tribe, launched her wildly successful music career in 1996 with her debut album "Sisters."
She has since released over a dozen studio albums and is a three-time winner of the Best Mandarin Female Singer award at Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards.
She won the award in 2002 with her album "Truth," in 2010 with "A-mit" and in 2015 with "Faces of Paranoia."
