Taipei, As warmer easterly winds move in, cloudy skies are forecast in northern parts of Taiwan and the offshore islands of Penghu and Matsu on Sunday, while the offshore islands of Kinmen as well as southern and eastern regions are expected to experience brief showers, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
In the afternoon, as clouds move eastwards, sporadic showers are forecast in central Taiwan and Penghu, while there is a chance of intermittent thunderstorms in mountainous areas, according to the CWB.

The CWB said daytime temperatures on Sunday are expected to hit 28-31 degrees Celsius in western parts of Taiwan, and 27 degrees in the east, while lows around the island will hover between 21-23 degrees.
In addition, strong winds are forecast in the areas north of Tainan, in eastern Taiwan's Taitung, Green Island and Orchid Island, as well as the Hengchun Peninsula in the south and the outlying Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu islands, according to the CWB.
Meanwhile, the air quality in all areas of Taiwan proper and the offshore Kinmen, Penghu and Mastsu islands was "good" to "moderate" as of noon on Sunday, according to the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA).
