Airport MRT Introduces 5 a.m. Express Train for Lunar New Year Travelers

Taipei: The Taoyuan Airport MRT will operate a special 5 a.m. express train service from February 12 to February 22 to accommodate the surge in outbound travel during the Lunar New Year holiday, as announced by the operator on Saturday. This early service aims to provide convenience to travelers heading to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.

According to Focus Taiwan, the express train will depart from Taipei Main Station at 5 a.m., reaching Terminal 2 of the airport in approximately 41 minutes. The Taoyuan Metro Corporation detailed that the earliest regular service on the Airport MRT previously began at 6 a.m. However, due to increased demand during last year's Lunar New Year, extra 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. trains were introduced, with the latter becoming a regular feature.

This year's 5 a.m. express service will make limited stops, halting only at A3 New Taipei Industrial Park, A8 Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and A12 Airport Terminal 1 before arriving at A13 Airport Terminal 2 by 5:41 a.m. To facilitate this service, the A1 Taipei Main Station and A3 New Taipei Industrial Park Station will open at 4:30 a.m., and in-town check-in services at A1 will start simultaneously. Stations at A8, A12, and A13 will open at 5 a.m.
