Taipei--Apple Inc. announced Wednesday on its Taiwan website that its highly anticipated, first directly owned retail store in the market will open on July 1.
Customers will have access to the full range of Apple products and services in the retail space, located in the Taipei 101 shopping mall, and learn from and exchange ideas with each other, the company said.
A ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on the store's opening day, and showcase a large paper cut work in the form of a huge tree by Taiwanese paper cutting artist Yang Shih-yi (???) that will welcome people in Taiwan into the new store.
Apple currently authorizes third parties to run stores that sell its products in Taiwan and also sells its products through its online platform.
The presence of the first official Apple store is expected to please many fans of iPhones and iPads in Taiwan.
Apple has opened almost 500 retail stores in 17 countries, with 270 in the United States and 225 in the other 16 countries.
