Jakarta, Taiwan's Wen Tzu-yun (???) won gold Sunday in the final of the women's under 55-kg weight division in karate at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, becoming the first athlete to be bantamweight champion in consecutive games.
Wen defeated Iran's Khaksar Taravat 4-0, defending the Asian Games title she won in Incheon, South Korea in 2014. "I am delighted to win the gold medal," she said.
The world No. 1 said she was deeply honored to live up to the expectations of people in Taiwan and grateful for the support of her family, the national team and the National Sports Training Center which provides services to athletes.
Wen, 26, said she now has her sights set on the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She became world ranked No.1 in her weight division after winning a silver medal last July at the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.
