Houston: The Houston Astros have officially placed Teng Kai-wei, their Taiwanese pitcher, on the 15-day injured list due to a right knee sprain. This move comes along with the rescission of his option to the Triple-A Sugar Land Space Cowboys.
According to Focus Taiwan, the Astros announced that the decision to list Teng as injured is retroactive to June 28. The team had previously opted to send Teng to their Triple-A affiliate in Sugar Land, but this option has now been voided. Teng will continue his rehabilitation efforts in Florida, with plans to transition him back into a relief pitching role upon recovery.
Teng, who is 27 years old, currently holds a 4.36 ERA with a 4-6 record this season. In June, he made five starts, recording a 1-3 outcome with a 7.77 ERA after allowing 19 earned runs over 22 innings.
