Taipei--At least three people were killed and 10 others injured in a pile-up on Yangde Boulevard (????) in suburban Taipei on Wednesday morning, according to the Taipei Fire Department.
The accident occurred when a concrete mixer smashed into eight cars on Section 3 of Yangde Boulevard, the main road leading to the Yangmingshan area. It also ran into a house and two cars parked to the side of the street.
Nine fire engines and 12 ambulances were quickly dispatched to the scene, and fire fighters found three men dead, one woman without vital signs, and nine other people (seven men and two women) injured.
The truck driver has blamed brake failure for his head-on collision with six cars coming from the opposite direction, but the Shilin Police Precinct said it is collecting camera footage from along the road to further investigate the cause of the accident.
