Taipei-The Coast Guard Administration (CGA) and the Fisheries Agency were continuing their search Thursday for a Taiwanese fishing boat that went missing in Pacific waters over the weekend.
The Su'ao-registered Jin Long Tai No. 6 had embarked from the Nanfang'ao fishing harbor on July 6, and was last reported around 2,600 nautical miles northeast of Taiwan.
According to the vessel's owner in Taiwan, the boat was operated by a Taiwanese captain and a crew of eight, which included one Chinese and seven Indonesians.
The owner said he last had contact with the Jin Long Tai at around 4 p.m. Aug. 18, and had not heard from the captain since, despite trying to reach him via satellite phone.
Local authorities were notified of the missing boat on Wednesday.
