Taipei--The Executive Yuan has approved a draft bill to disband the Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs Commission (MTAC), Cabinet spokesman Hsu Kuo-yung (???) said Thursday.
Following the disbanding of the commission, its duties will be handed to other related agencies, Hsu said.
Among the 46 people employed by the commission, 43 will be transferred to the Ministry of Culture, while the remaining six will head to the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC).
Matters involving Mongolian affairs will be handled by the cultural ministry and MAC, he said.
Commenting after a press conference, Hsu said under the Provisional Act for Adjustment of Functions and Organizations of the Executive Yuan (????????????????), the Cabinet reserves the right to streamline and adjust the functions of its subordinate administrative agencies.
The draft bill will be submitted to the Legislature for review in due course, Hsu said.
