Taipei--China Airlines will launch direct flights between Taipei and London on Dec. 1, and tickets for the flights can now be purchased on the airline's official website, the company said Wednesday.
CAL, one of Taiwan's two main international airlines, said it will use it newest plane, the Airbus A350-900 XWB, to fly nonstop to Gatwick Airport every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
To celebrate the opening of the new route, the carrier unveiled an "early bird" promotion offering round-trip premium economy fares of NT$32,000 (US$1,051) and round-trip economy fares of NT$21,000 for the route before taxes and fees.
The company said the direct flight between Taipei and London will take about 13 hours, cutting between three and seven hours of travel time for trips that make transit stops.
