Taipei-- Passengers headed to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on the mass transit line (MRT) from Taipei Main Station will be able to check in for their flights in Taipei from Feb. 16, the Taoyuan Mass Rapid Transit Corp. said Wednesday.
However, the check-in service will only be available for flights that take off after 11 a.m. each day before the trial run period ends March 1, according to the company.
The Transport Ministry and the MRT company announced earlier in the day that the MRT line between Taipei Main Station and the airport will begin trial runs Feb. 2 for one month. Rides on the MRT will be free to the public during the trial period.
After the MRT starts commercial operations March 2, passengers will be allowed to travel on the line between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. and will be offered the check-in service for flights that take off after 9 a.m. every day day.
The free travel on the line will be available between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. every day, the company added.
