Taichung:The Taichung-based teahouse chain Chun Shui Tang has announced a price increase on more than 80 percent of its menu items, with an average hike of 12 percent. This adjustment, effective as of Sunday, is attributed to rising operating, ingredient, and labor costs.
According to Focus Taiwan, the teahouse chain has specified that actual prices for individual items can be found at its stores and on its official website. Using northern Taiwan as a reference, the cost of a medium-sized bubble tea will now be NT$200 (US$6.12), marking an increase of approximately 5 percent, while the price for a medium-sized uva black tea remains unchanged at NT$160.
Further details reveal that the price of braised beef noodle soup will see a rise of about 19 percent, setting the new price at NT$315. Additionally, Kung-Fu noodles will increase by roughly 12 percent, now priced at NT$135.
In conjunction with the price increase, Chun Shui Tang has introduced several promotional offerings. Customers can receive a voucher for a small uva black tea, a small bubble tea, or a small tote bag, depending on the amount spent in a single transaction.
Founded in 1983, Chun Shui Tang is renowned for inventing bubble milk tea, a drink featuring tapioca pearls, which the company claims to have developed in 1986 and officially launched in 1987.
