Taipei, Cloudy to sunny skies are forecast in western parts of Taiwan on Sunday, with a chance of rain in the afternoon, while sporadic showers are likely in the eastern parts, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.
With northeasterly winds weakening, the winds have shifted from east to south and are expected to bring intermittent rainfall or thunderstorms to eastern Taiwan.
In the western part of Taiwan, there is a chance of brief afternoon thunderstorms, according to the bureau.
In the wake of a series of earthquakes and rainfall recently, the CWB also warned of the potential for landslides and falling rocks in mountainous areas, particularly the Suhua Highway, a 118-kilometer section of the Provincial Highway 9 in Taiwan, starting at Su'ao Township, Yilan County and ending at Hualien County.
The CWB said daytime temperatures are expected to hit 28-32 degrees Celsius around Taiwan.
Meanwhile, the air quality in all parts of Taiwan along with the outlying islands of Kinmen, Penghu and Matsu was good to fair on Sunday, according to the Taiwan Air Quality Index of the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA).
