Taipei: Seasonal northeasterly winds are anticipated to intensify, transforming into a cold air mass that will lower temperatures in northern Taiwan to approximately 14 degrees Celsius next Thursday and Friday, as reported by the Central Weather Administration (CWA) on Thursday. Despite a temporary weakening of the northeasterly winds expected on Sunday, which will see temperatures across Taiwan rise to daytime highs exceeding 25 degrees, a new cold front is predicted to arrive on Tuesday, according to CWA forecaster Lee Meng-hsuan.According to Focus Taiwan, this cold front will gradually lower temperatures in the northern and northeastern regions of Taiwan. Starting next Wednesday, the strengthening seasonal winds or cold air mass will contribute to even colder conditions, reaching their peak on Thursday and Friday mornings. During these days, northern Taiwan can expect lows around 14-15 degrees, while central Taiwan will experience temperatures dropping to 15 degrees, and southern Taiwan will see temperat ures ranging from 17-18 degrees.In terms of precipitation, Lee noted that humidity levels are expected to decrease starting this Friday, with brief showers anticipated north of Taoyuan and in eastern Taiwan. There will be heavy rain along Keelung's north coast and in mountainous areas of Greater Taipei. On Saturday, sporadic brief showers are expected in areas north of Taoyuan, Keelung's north coast, mountainous regions of Greater Taipei, and northeastern Taiwan.As the seasonal winds weaken on Sunday and Monday, regions including Keelung's north coast, the Greater Taipei area, and eastern Taiwan are likely to experience sporadic showers, while the rest of the country will see cloudy to sunny weather. With the passage of the cold front next Tuesday, brief showers are forecast for the north, east, and mountainous areas in central Taiwan, with other parts of the island expected to remain cloudy.
