Taipei-The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) has issued a low temperature warning of 10 degrees Celsius for areas north of Changhua County and along the Yilan County coast from Sunday night to Monday morning due to an ongoing cold air mass from China.
The low temperature warning was issued Sunday for the cities of Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Taichung, the counties of Hsinchu, Miaoli, Changhua, and Yilan, and the offshore counties of Lienchiang and Kinmen, according to the CWB.
As the cold air mass weakens starting Monday morning, the mercury will gradually rebound, with daytime highs expected to reach 20 degrees, the CWB said.
But temperatures late at night and early in the morning will remain low, with the difference in temperatures between day and night expected to reach about 10 degrees in the northern half of western Taiwan and 6-9 degrees in other areas.
The weather will turn warmer Wednesday and Thursday before northeasterly winds begin to gain strength on Feb. 1, sending temperatures downward again in northern and northeastern Taiwan.
