CORONAVIRUS/Undocumented workers urged to get vaccinated at Taipei Main Station

Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (???) issued a call Wednesday for undocumented migrant workers in the city to take advantage of a COVID-19 vaccination service at Taipei Main Station that has been set up specifically for them.

At the walk-in site, translators provided by the Ministry of Labor are on hand to help migrant workers navigate the process, Ko said.

The dedicated COVID-19 vaccination service for undocumented workers is available at Taipei Main Station every day from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. until Jan. 16, according to the city’s Department of Health.

Meanwhile, other residents can book COVID-19 vaccine appointments either on the Taipei website or at hospitals and clinics throughout the city, Ko said at a press conference.

Bookings on the Taipei vaccination website will open Friday for the administration of COVID-19 shots Jan. 17-23, with seven new sites planned, according to Ko.

Meanwhile, in Keelung City, people started lining up at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday outside a government walk-in vaccination site at a stadium in Xinyi District, which will remain in service until Jan. 16.

Keelung Mayor Lin Yu-chan (???) said the city has an adequate supply of COVID-19 vaccines for its residents, who can also make appointments at 50 contracted hospitals or clinics throughout the city.

Keelung residents 65 years old and over will be notified when and where they can obtain booster shots, which will be offered Jan. 17-25, he said.

In New Taipei, the Department of Health said it had received 30,300 online bookings for COVID-19 vaccination at sites across the city that will open Jan. 13-15.

Furthermore, 37 hospitals, 29 public health centers, and 415 contracted clinics in the city are accepting appointments for COVID-19 vaccination, the city’s health department said.

New Taipei is also offering walk-in services at three sites — Mitsui Outlet Park in Linkou District 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Jan. 14-16, Honhui Plaza in Xinzhuang District 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Jan. 14-15, and GlobalMall in Zhonghe District 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. until Jan. 20.
