Czech Senate President Visits Taiwan to Boost Bilateral Ties

Taipei: Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrcil arrived in Taiwan on Monday for a four-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as politics, business, education, and culture. Vystrcil and his 40-member delegation were greeted by Deputy Foreign Minister François Wu upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport at 5:04 a.m. The Senate president waved to reporters but did not give any comments.According to Focus Taiwan, prior to his arrival, Vystrcil mentioned that he had been invited by Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu to visit Taiwan. During his four-day visit, he is scheduled to meet with representatives from both the ruling Democratic Progressive Party and the opposition Kuomintang to advance cross-party exchanges. The delegation will also meet with President Lai Ching-te, Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, senior government officials, and representatives from the business, academic, and cultural sectors, Vystrcil noted.The Czech Senate leader, who is on his second visit to Taiwan foll owing a trip in August 2020, also stated that he expects to meet with former President Tsai Ing-wen. Vystrcil emphasized that the visit would focus on expanding cooperation through business discussions, the signing of memorandums of understanding, and increased exchanges in the field of education and culture.
