Deputy head of Matsu army command dies after being found unconscious

The deputy chief of staff of the Army for the Matsu Defense Command was pronounced dead at a hospital Friday after being found unconscious in his barracks.
The colonel, identified only by his last name Tu (杜), was found unconscious in his room in the morning and was immediately rushed to a hospital, the Matsu defense command said in a statement.
He was subsequently pronounced dead by the Lienchiang County Hospital after efforts to resuscitate him failed.
The cause of his death is currently being investigated jointly by the military police and the Fuchien Lienchiang District Prosecutors Office, the command said, without providing further details.
His family has been notified of the incident, it said.
