A ceremony marking the official launch of a fleet of 64 fishing boats meant to perform marine environmental protection missions was held Tuesday on the outlying county of Penghu.
The commissioning ceremony of the fleet, the first of its kind, was presided over by Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) Minister Lee Ying-yuan (???).
The marine environmental protection boats then commenced services by setting out to the sea to look into ways to remove underwater sludge and trash, according to the Penghu County Environmental Protection Bureau.
The 64 fishing boats will be tasked with garbage sorting and recycling as well as cleaning surface waters and fishing ports, according to the bureau.
