Taipei: A former teacher at the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts was indicted Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting four students, prosecutors said, adding that the incidents caused lasting psychological trauma to the victims.
According to Focus Taiwan, the indictment revealed that Lee Tung-chun exploited his authority over students' performance opportunities during trips outside campus, knowing they would be reluctant to resist. During these outings, Lee allegedly invited the four students to stay overnight at his rented residence, where he is accused of sexually assaulting them and committing other indecent acts. The indictment did not specify when the offences occurred.
Some of the victims were minors at the time of the alleged assaults. On Tuesday, the Shilin District Prosecutors Office announced it had concluded its investigation and indicted Lee under the Criminal Code.
Prosecutors emphasized that Lee, as a teacher, had a duty to care for and protect students. Instead, he acted to fulfill his own desires, causing lasting psychological trauma and harming the students' healthy development. His conduct was described as having a negative impact on society and was deemed highly reprehensible. Prosecutors urged the court to consider these factors in their review of the case.
