Female Thai laborer thought to be deported reappears
A female worker from Thailand who was supposed to have been deported in September reappeared on a bustling street in Tainan recently, police said.
A police officer found the woman kneeling on a motorcycle lane amid heavy traffic in the southern city and approached her out of concern for her safety, but the woman remained silent and had no form of identification on her person.
She was then taken to the National Immigration Agency, where her identity was established.
The woman had been deported in September for violating the Employment Service Act and had no record of re-entering the country since then.
Because she refused to answer any questions from police, she was later handed over to the Tainan District Prosecutors Office for further investigation.
Police suspected she made her way into Taiwan on the sly and said she will likely be deported again.
