Fire destroys 15 shop houses, bedridden patient dies in the fire, several motorcycles and cars damaged, initial suspicion is electrical short circuit.At 2:42 a.m., Second Lieutenant Phakphon Phaibunsombat, Deputy Inspector (Investigation), Wang Thonglang Police Station, received a report of a fire at a shop with fatalities. The incident occurred at Soi Lat Phrao 124, Intersection 7, Lat Phrao Road, Wang Thonglang Subdistrict and District, Bangkok. He rushed to inspect the scene along with officers from the Huamark Fire and Rescue Station, 3 water trucks, officers from the Forensic Science Division, a doctor on duty from the Police General Hospital's Institute of Forensic Medicine, and volunteers from the Por Teng Tung Foundation.The scene of the incident was a zinc shed selling goods built next to each other. The fire was intense. There was the sound of gas tanks exploding. The fire spread throughout the area. Officers mobilized to spray water for about 15 minutes before putting it out. The fire had dest royed 15 houses. At the shed selling Isaan food, the body of Mr. Niwat, 38 years old, a bedridden patient, was found burned. At the shed selling motorcycles, 7 motorcycles were found damaged by the fire. In addition, 4 cars were found parked across the road with small fires.From the investigation, Mr. Phiraphong, 31 years old, a fried chicken shop owner, stated that the scene of the incident was a shed and a shop. There were both vendors staying at the shop and returning home. He was shocked when smoke came into the shop. When he got up, he saw the fire at the chicken rice shop, so he shouted that there was a fire. He and his wife rushed out with their 3-year-old son. The middle-aged woman who was sleeping in the shed also rushed out. The couple who were selling Isaan food were able to escape, but their son was bedridden and died in the fire. As far as he knew, there were people sleeping in these 3 houses. The remaining shop owners went back to sleep in nearby houses.Pol. Lt. Phakphon said that the owner of the place had divided it up for rent for 3,000-4,000 baht per month. There were about 15 houses. The fire burned it all down, causing 1 death, 7 motorcycles damaged, and 4 cars damaged. Initially, the cause of the fire was likely an electrical short circuit. The Forensic Science Department was contacted to investigate the cause.
