Taipei-The Directorate General of Highways (DGH) has issued fines of NT$500,000 (US$16,336) each to two food delivery companies, Deliveroo and QUICKpick, for not completing automobile transportation operators registration, in violation of the Highways Act, and has ordered them to terminate their operations.
Taipei-based Deliveroo and Taichung-based Quickpick have not completed applications for a business license to establish an automobile transportation enterprise, but continued to operate food delivery services, the DGH said Wednesday after it conducted safety inspections of food delivery platforms
Motor vehicles supervisory offices in Taipei and Taichung under the DGH issued the fines to the two delivery companies and distrained the license plates of illegally operating vehicles and the drivers' licenses for four months.
Safety inspections have been conducted on 11 food delivery companies from Oct. 15, and only three have been found to comply with relevant laws and regulations, according to the DGH.
