Gogoro partners with Metro Motor, Paz to explore Israeli market

Taiwan electric scooter maker Gogoro Inc. announced Wednesday that it is partnering with Israeli companies Metro Motor and Paz Group to roll out its electric vehicle infrastructure in Tel Aviv this summer.

Gogoro said in a statement that it will also work with Metro Motor, a two-wheel vehicle distributor, and Paz Group, a gas and energy company, to introduce its battery swapping technologies and EV ecosystems to other Israeli cities in the future.

"We are excited to be launching in Israel, one of the most innovative and technology forward countries in the world to establish a new era of urban two-wheel mobility," said Horace Luke (???), founder, chairman and CEO of Gogoro.

According to Luke, Gogoro currently manages more than 350,000 battery swaps per day and has recorded more than 275 million battery swaps since 2015.

"The introduction of Gogoro into the Israeli market is excellent news for two-wheeler enthusiasts and is likely to be a significant growth engine for the company, ever deepening its presence in the electric two-wheeler market,” said Gadi Aviram, chairman of the board of Metro Motor.

Meanwhile, Paz CEO Nir Stern said the company "will lead the 'battery swapping' platform for the scooters as part of the company's electric vehicle charging department, and will offer dedicated services to users at our stations and through our app."

Founded in 2011, Gogoro has become the leading e-scooter brand in Taiwan with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore an early investor. Over the past two years, the company has also extended its reach to China, India, and Indonesia by establishing strategic partnerships with counterparts in those markets.
