Google Launches Traditional Chinese Version of AI Mode Search in Taiwan

Taipei: Google announced the official launch of a Traditional Chinese version of Google Search AI Mode in Taiwan on Wednesday.

According to Focus Taiwan, the company detailed that AI Mode allows users to explore complex topics more deeply and ask questions that are three times longer than what traditional searches permit, eliminating the need for multiple searches to complete a task. The AI Mode employs a “query fan-out” strategy, breaking down a query into various sub-topics and executing multiple searches. This enables users to find more comprehensive and high-quality content on the internet.

The searches can be conducted through voice, photos, or images by using the capabilities of Google Lens, the company added. Additionally, Google is offering a free one-year trial of Google AI Pro services to college students aged over 18 in Taiwan. These students will have access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro model for learning and writing assistance, Deep Research for research projects, and NotebookLM for summarizing and organizing information and lecture notes.

Furthermore, Google is hosting a “Taiwan High School Club Festival” event, providing NT$3,000 (US$98.14) in cash to high school student clubs that integrate Gemini into their activities, such as event planning, generating copywriting ideas, and poster design. To be eligible, clubs must register and submit their plans for using Gemini, along with the results, via a designated form sent to the email address used for registration. Submissions must be registered from Sept. 15 to Nov. 30.
