At around 5:00 PM, there was progress in the rescue plan for 3 workers who were buried in a landslide in a high-speed rail tunnel after a 1.2-meter large pipe arrived.The fate of the three workers buried by the landslide is still unknown, amid urgent rescue efforts. The large pipes pushed in are a key piece of hope, but under many limitations, due to the narrow space inside the tunnel, where soil continues to collapse, experts are needed.Mr. Chaiwat Chuenkosum, Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, revealed the rescue plan after inspecting the area with representatives from the Ministry of Transport and related agencies. The officers used a method of pushing a small 108 mm pipe in and compressing air to allow the workers trapped inside to breathe. However, the limitation was that while scooping up the soil, the soil kept collapsing, so they had to use steel supports. They went in about 25-30 meters deep to reach the point where the unfortunate workers were. It was reported that the Chinese backhoe driv er and the Burmese soil truck driver were inside the truck, while the engineer supervising the work was outside. The point where the soil collapsed covered an area of ??about 50 meters.The latest hopeful rescue equipment, a 1.2-meter-wide, 6-meter-long steel pipe, was sent into the tunnel at the scene of the accident at around 5:00 PM. This pipe will allow officials to help the workers and also be used as a route to transport the injured out. When the large pipe arrives, the method of helping by using an excavator will be discontinued, but we have to hope that there will be no large rocks blocking the path and making it impossible to push in. The rescue plan has arranged for a doctor to provide first aid at the scene before taking a train patrol car at Khlong Khanan Chit Station to Tambon Chan Thuek and then an ambulance to Pak Chong Nana Hospital, which will take about 20 minutes in total.For the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project, Bangkok-Nong Khai section, the goal is to open the entire line to conne ct the ASEAN region in 2029. As for the first phase, Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima, 250 kilometers, the area where the incident occurred, the construction is about 35% complete.
