Pop singer Hebe Tien (田馥甄) has canceled two shows at the Kaohsiung Arena due to safety concerns following a magnitude 6.8 earthquake in southeastern Taiwan Sunday.
Tien’s concerts on Sunday and Monday were part of a series of performances from Sept. 16-19 in the southern port city.
A Tune Music Co., Ltd., which organized the Kaohsiung Arena shows, said it had decided to cancel Sunday and Monday’s concerts to ensure the safety of audiences and arena staff.
The magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Taiwan’s southeastern Taitung County at 2:44 p.m. Sunday, which was stronger than a magnitude 6.4 temblor on Saturday, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
The earthquake on Saturday forced Tien’s concert to stop for 15 minutes to allow staff to conduct safety checks.
Tien, a singer and actress, rose to fame in the early 2000s as a member of Taiwanese girl group S.H.E.
