Taipei: High temperatures and localized afternoon showers will continue across Taiwan for the next seven days, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Wednesday. Highs in most areas will range between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius, with New Taipei, Taichung, Yunlin County, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung County likely to see temperatures exceeding 36 degrees, as noted by CWA forecaster Chang Chun-yao.
According to Focus Taiwan, an orange heat alert has been issued for Taipei, warning of potential highs of up to 38 degrees on Thursday. Chang also cautioned that high tides will persist on Thursday, raising the risk of flooding in coastal areas from Changhua to Chiayi, as well as in Hualien.
From Thursday through Saturday, sunny to cloudy skies are expected across the country, with localized afternoon showers likely in western Taiwan and mountainous regions, the CWA noted. The weather pattern is expected to continue from Sunday to September 16, with afternoon showers anticipated in the Greater Taipei area, southern Taiwan, and mountainous regions due to a strengthening Pacific high-pressure system.
Brief showers are also likely in southeastern Taiwan on September 15 and 16, according to the CWA. On September 17, afternoon showers are expected in southern Taiwan and mountainous regions, while Hualien, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula may see brief showers.
