Hsinchu city: A second person has died following a fire at the Zhuyuan Extra High Voltage Substation in Hsinchu City on Monday, bringing the death toll to two, as confirmed by police and fire personnel on Tuesday.
According to Focus Taiwan, the fire erupted during equipment testing at the Taiwan Power Co.-operated facility. Three individuals working at the site were injured and transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, two of the injured individuals have now been pronounced dead.
Huang Chen-lun, head prosecutor at the Hsinchu District Prosecutors Office, informed CNA that a joint evidence collection was conducted on Tuesday by prosecutors, fire investigators, and police. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be disclosed once the findings are verified, Huang stated.
Firefighting operations have concluded, and the crews have withdrawn from the site. The subsequent work has been assigned to fire investigators to determine the cause of the incident.
