Taipei--Industry leader Rock Hsu (???) has expressed hope for stable trade and economic relations with China, suggesting that the administration of President Tsai Ing-wen (???) achieve the goal through communication with Beijing.
"Mainland (China) is an important part of Taiwan's arrangements" in trade and economic development, Hsu told a gathering of representatives of Taiwan's major industrial and commercial organizations in Taipei on Tuesday.
He said the government should continue to communicate with China in an effort to keep the trade and economic relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait stable.
Hsu is chairman of the Chinese National Federation of Industries, an industrial association representing a majority of the manufacturing businesses in Taiwan.
During the gathering, which was also attended by Tsai, Hsu called for the government to pay attention to the challenges facing the country's industrial and commercial sectors.
He urged the government to tackle the hurdles standing in the way of industrial transformation, including insufficient talent in technology design and development; to build a good investment environment; and to fix the problem of sluggish environmental assessment efficiency that stems investment willingness.
