Intoxicated Thai migrant worker kills compatriot during quarrel
Taipei-A male Thai migrant worker who was under the influence of alcohol hit another Thai migrant man with a blunt object, killing him Friday night during an argument between them, police said Saturday.
At about 11:30 p.m. Friday, the Thai migrant worker, 42, who worked in a car maintenance factory located in Taiping District of Taichung City, central Taiwan, became drunk and got into a quarrel with his 39-year-old Thai colleague for unknown reasons, Taichung police said.
During the quarrel, the intoxicated Thai worker and his compatriot were fighting each other before the drunken man grabbed a blunt object and used it to hit and injure the other man, according to police.
After being notified of the incident, police rushed to the scene immediately with an ambulance, which sent the injured Thai migrant worker, who suffered injuries on his head, neck and abdomen, and severe bleeding, to a hospital for an emergency treatment.
Despite their efforts, doctors and nurses could not save the injured migrant worker and pronounced him dead, according to police.
They arrested the drunken Thai migrant worker on the spot and questioned him overnight with assistance from a Thai interpreter.
The suspect will be sent to the Taiwan Taichung District Prosecutors Office for further investigation into the crime of murder.
