Taipei: Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will hold a concert at the Taipei Dome in April, in what will be the venue's first performance by a Western artist, the concert's promoter said Wednesday. The opera singer is scheduled to perform on April 4, with further details on his musical accompaniments and ticket sales set to be announced shortly, as stated by promoter MNA in a press release.
According to Focus Taiwan, Bocelli, aged 66, has previously graced Taiwan with his performances five times. His past performances include appearances at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in 2008, Tainan in 2013, and at the Taipei Arena in 2010, 2011, and 2015. This upcoming concert marks Bocelli's inaugural performance at the Taipei Dome, which opened its doors in October 2023, making him the first Western artist to perform at the venue.
Bocelli, who lost his sight at the age of 12, rose to fame in the 1990s as an operatic phenomenon, transitioning from a piano bar singer to an internationally acclaimed tenor. He has achieved remarkable success, selling over 90 million records worldwide and amassing more than 16 billion streams, as reported by his record label, Universal Music Group.
