Kaohsiung:Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Kaohsiung mayoral candidate Lai Jui-lung released his first campaign video on Thursday, while his Kuomintang (KMT) opponent Ko Chih-en engaged with the community by visiting traditional markets in the southern port city.
According to Focus Taiwan, Lai's 100-second campaign video features him in various roles, including a character named "Grandpa Lung-Lung." Through these interactions, Lai aims to demonstrate that mayoral candidates should not only address the concerns of potential supporters but also offer tangible solutions.
Meanwhile, Ko Chih-en made stops at the Gangshan Fish Market and local vegetable markets, where she listened to vendors' requests for improved market canopies. In response, Ko committed to enhancing the safety and quality of the working environment for market vendors.
Taiwan's 2026 local elections, known as the "9-in-1" elections, are scheduled for November 28. Voters across 22 cities and counties will choose candidates for nine different local government positions, including city mayors and county magistrates. Additionally, elections will be held for township chiefs, Indigenous district chiefs, and various councilors, totaling 11,051 officials at all levels of local government.
