Kaohsiung: A public zoo in Kaohsiung celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival by presenting a unique spread of "zongzi" crafted specifically for its animal residents on Friday. The event featured a selection of zongzi made with vegetables, hay, and other suitable ingredients to cater to the dietary preferences of the animals.
According to Focus Taiwan, the zoo's initiative was supported by the city's tourism department, which emphasized the difference between human and animal zongzi. While traditional human zongzi are typically composed of rice and pork, the zoo's creations were designed to align with the eating habits and needs of the various species at Shoushan Zoo.
The zoo's special zongzi initiative aimed to engage the animals in a festive celebration while ensuring their nutritional requirements were met. This approach highlights the zoo's commitment to animal welfare and its efforts to provide enriching experiences for the animals in its care.
