Taipei-The Kuomintang (KMT) and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have held on to legislative seats that members of their parties vacated during elections for local government offices held last November.
The KMT's Shen Jhih-hwei (???) declared victory Sunday in a legislative by-election in Taichung's fifth electoral district.
She will fill the vacancy left by Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (???) of the KMT, who resigned her position as a legislator on Nov. 20 before winning her bid for mayor on Nov. 24.
In Taipei, the DPP's Ho Chih-wei (???) declared victory in his race for the seat representing Taipei's 2nd electoral district in Shilin and Datong Districts.
That seat was left vacant by the DPP's Yao Wen-chih (???), who gave up his seat as a legislator while making an unsuccessful run for Taipei mayor last November.
