An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 hit Nanhua District in Tainan at 7:35 p.m. Friday, the Central Weather Bureau reported later that evening.
No casualties or damage were immediately reported.
The quake had an intensity of 3 in Tainan, while Yunlin County, Chiayi County and Kaohsiung registered an intensity of 2, with Changhua and Nantou counties registering an intensity of 1.
Intensity, measured in Taiwan on a 1-7 scale, gauges the actual effect of a temblor at a specific location.
