Tainan: A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Tainan in southern Taiwan at 11:47 a.m. Thursday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). There were no immediate reports of damage following the quake.

According to Focus Taiwan, the epicenter of the temblor was located 32.3 kilometers northeast of Tainan City Hall at a depth of 7.3 km, CWA data showed. The intensity of the quake, which gauges the actual effect of a seismic event, measured 4 on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale in some areas of Tainan and Chiayi County, according to the CWA.

The quake also measured an intensity of 3 in parts of Yunlin County, the CWA said.
