Man found decapitated at home in New Taipei

A 54-year-old man was found lying down without his head at his residence in New Taipei on Monday night in what police have described as an apparent homicide case.

According to New Taipei police, a woman called them earlier Monday to inform them that a male friend of hers surnamed Liang (?) had gone missing since Aug. 30.

Based on information provided by the woman, the police went to the man's residence on Zhiguang Street in the city's Yonghe District. They forced their way into the home only to discover that he was already dead.

Police suspected the man was decapitated because his head was not found at the scene, and they said they have targeted possible suspects whom they are pursuing.

They did not offer any other details on the man or what may have led to the brutal crime.
