Mandopop queen A-mei to go on ‘epic’ world tour next year

Taiwanese singer A-mei (???) will embark on a new world tour next April, starting in Taiwan with her first performance at Taipei Arena since a controversial concert there in 2015, her agents announced Monday.

“Stay tuned for something epic,” her publicity agent and concert producer Isaac Chen (???) said after the announcement, which gave sparse details of the tour by the singer, often referred to as the “Queen of Mandopop.”

According to Chen, A-mei’s voice and music tend to have a multisensory effect on people, which is why that title was chosen for her upcoming world tour.

A-mei’s world tour will begin with a series of concerts in Taiwan, running for 12 nights at Taipei Arena, from April 1-16, 2022, skipping three days during that period, according to her publicity team.

Those concerts will mark A-mei’s return to the stadium for the first time since 2015, when residents in the area complained of noise pollution and panic-inducing vibrations during her “Utopia World Tour” concerts.

As a result, the management of Taipei Arena introduced a regulation that imposes a fine of NT$100,000 (US$3,617) per song and possible cancellation of the performance if a concert’s decibel level rises above 63. The regulation became popularly known as the “A-mei Clause.”

In Monday’s announcement, no details were given of the other countries or venues included in A-mei’s upcoming world tour.
