The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned the public Friday to be on their guard when traveling to the Philippines after the country announced a state of national emergency Sept. 4.
In addition to paying attention to their personal safety, Taiwanese nationals should also leave sufficient time for increased security checks at airports and public places in the Philippines, the ministry said in a news release.
Malacanang Palace, the president's official residence and workplace, announced Sept. 4 that the country had entered a "state of national emergency," in the wake of a Sept. 2 terror attack in Davao City, the country's third-largest city.
