MOFA Reports No Injuries to Taiwanese Nationals Amid Los Angeles Protests

Los Angeles: Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced that no Taiwanese citizens have reported injuries amid the ongoing protests against federal immigration raids in Los Angeles. In addition, no arrests of Taiwanese nationals have been recorded.

According to Focus Taiwan, MOFA spokesman Hsiao Kuangwei stated that the ministry and Taiwan's representative office in Los Angeles are closely monitoring the situation. The protests, which primarily occurred in the downtown area and the city of Paramount, have not significantly impacted Taiwanese citizens because few reside in those areas.

Hsiao reassured that visitors to the Taiwanese representative office would not be affected, as it is located far from the protest zones. He advised all Taiwanese nationals to steer clear of protest sites and enforcement zones to ensure their safety.

In the event of an emergency, Taiwanese citizens are encouraged to contact local authorities by calling 911 or the office's emergency hotline at 213-923-3591.

Protests erupted in three locations across Los Angeles following Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers conducting raids and arresting dozens. On Monday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the deployment of 700 Marines to Los Angeles to support the National Guard in managing the protests.
