Taipei-Some 13,000 job opportunities will be featured this year at the annual Workforce Development Agency (WDA) career fair, with about 400 companies participating, the agency said Thursday.
The fair will be held February to August at various locations throughout the country, including Hsinchu, Pingtung, Yilan, Chiayi, Taichung and Keelung, said the WDA, an agency under the Ministry of Labor.
In a press release, the WDA said the career fair will open Feb. 24 in Hsinchu, with 3,500 job openings on offer by Taiwan High Speed Rail, United Microelectronics Corp., AU Optronics Corp., Wistron Corp., Unimicron Corp., and about 55 other companies.
Among those 3,500 jobs, 1,780 will carry a starting salary of NT$30,000 (US$1,015) per month, the agency said.
In the technology sector, Young Optics, Inc.; Loop Telecommunication International, Inc.; Kinestral Technologies, Inc.; and Giantplus Technology Co. will be looking for engineers, offering monthly starting salaries of around NT$60,000, the agency said.
Companies such as Amkor Technology, Opto Tech Corporation, Powertech Technology, Inc. and Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd. will each have about 100 job openings, the WDA said but did not give a salary estimate for those positions.
At the Hsinchu fair, the services will be paperless, the WDA said, advising job seekers to sign up for membership on the Taiwan Jobs website and submit their resumes, which can then be accessed online by the businesses on the day of the fair.
The WDA fair will move to Pingtung on Mar. 17, to Yilan on April 21, Chiayi on May 5, Taichung on June 15 and 16, and Keelung on Aug. 4.
