Taipei: The Republic of China (Taiwan) marked its 114th National Day with a series of vibrant events, including military parades and various performances, in front of the Presidential Office in Taipei. The celebrations kicked off with the Taiwan Taiko Association's impressive display, featuring 100 drummers performing in unison.According to Focus Taiwan, the traditional flyover by an Air Force Mirage 2000 fighter jet was a highlight, as it soared above the Presidential Office, adding to the day's celebratory atmosphere. The Republic of China Honor Guards and marching band were also prominent, leading a military parade that captivated attendees.The celebrations continued with a performance by students from Taichung's Shin Min High School, who used floral imagery to showcase Taiwan's nickname, "Formosa." This was followed by President Lai Ching-te's National Day address, which centered on the theme "A New Taiwan Rises in a Time of Change." His speech outlined his vision for national governance, covering key areas such as democracy, innovation, economic development, social care, diplomacy, defense, and civic engagement.Following the President's address, a CH-47SD Chinook helicopter, accompanied by two UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, carried the national flag across the sky, symbolizing Taiwan's unity and pride. The celebrations culminated with a stunning aerial display by the Republic of China Air Force Thunder Tiger Aerobatics Team, which painted the sky in red, white, and blue.The four-day festivities began earlier in the week with a light show at the Presidential Office and concluded with fireworks from the Taipei 101 skyscraper, lighting up the night sky and marking the end of Taiwan's National Day celebrations.
