Northern Taiwan turns cooler

Taipei, The weather is expected to cool down in northern Taiwan on Friday as a weather front arrives, bringing rain to parts of the country, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.

Showers or thunderstorms are forecast for northern and eastern Taiwan, with sporadic rain expected in the rest of the country, according to CWB forecaster Lin Ting-yi (???).

Daytime highs on Friday will range from 27 to 29 degrees Celsius in Yilan and regions north of Hsinchu, a significant drop from the scorching temperatures of above 35 degrees recorded in previous days, Lin said.

In other areas, however, daytime highs could still reach 30-34 degrees, he added.

The weather front will remain in Taiwan until Monday, after which temperatures will rise again, he said.
