NT$10 million receipt lottery prize unclaimed as deadline looms
Taipei--The holder of a winning uniform invoice number for a NT$10 million (US$323,159) cash prize has one day to come forward, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said Sunday.
If no one claims the special prize by Monday, the NT$10 million will remain in the state coffers, according to the MOF.
The draw was for sales invoices issued in the period September and October 2016 and the special prize number was 84568349, which was printed on 13 receipts, the ministry said.
It said the outstanding receipt was issued at a FamilyMart convenience store in New Taipei for the purchase of drinks and rice rolls valued NT$84.
Apart from the one unclaimed NT$10 million special prize, there are also four grand prize winners from the September-October draw who have not come forward to claim the prize of NT$2 million each, the MOF said.
The winning number for the grand prize is 89536536, it said.
The uniform invoice lottery system, which draws the winning numbers every two months, was created to encourage consumers to collect their sales invoices, as part of the MOF's efforts to prevent tax evasion by retailers.
