SEOUL, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo emphasized Tuesday that the livelihoods of the people should be the government’s top priority, citing high inflation and interest rates.
Han made the remarks while presiding over a Cabinet meeting, where he asked each government ministry to show determination in waging a “war” against high inflation and interest rates.
“Embracing and understanding the public’s livelihoods is the government’s first priority,” Han said.
Citing global high inflation, interest rates and fluctuating oil prices, the prime minister pointed out that such factors not only affect our economy but also impact socially vulnerable people.
“The Yoon Suk Yeol administration has been making significant efforts to make policies, streamline institutions and strengthen the foundations under the principles of liberal democracy and market economy to ensure the realization of universal values, such as freedom, human rights and the rule of law,” he said.
