Taipei, The supply of electricity around Taiwan will be adequate during the coming week even as temperatures heat up, staterun Taiwan Power Co. (Taipower) indicated on its website.
The utility noted, however, that "yellow" warnings, signaling operating reserve margins between 6 percent and 10 percent, could be issued for most of the week as the operating reserve margin will range between 7.35 percent to 10.73, Taipower's website showed.
The electricity supply will have the lowest reserve margin on Wednesday, according to the power company.
Under Taipower's fivecolor electricity supply warning system, a green light means operating reserve margins are above 10 percent, and a yellow light represents reserve margins of between 6 percent and 10 percent.
Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 3032 degrees Celsius around Taiwan on Tuesday as the weather clears, according to the Central Weather Bureau, pushing up demand for power.
The wind will shift in a southwesterly direction from Tuesday to Saturday, pushing temperatures up to highs of 33 degrees around much of Taiwan, and as high as 35 degrees in parts of Kaohsiung and Pingtung in the south and Hualien and Taitung in the east, the CWB said.
