Taipei-Pre-orders for Samsung's latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note8, will be accepted in Taiwan from Sept. 1-7, Samsung Taiwan said in a statement Thursday.
Orders can be made via Samsung's official website and the five major mobile network operators: Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone, GT and T Star, the company said.
In Taiwan, the model will be offered in Orchid Gray, Maple Gold and a limited edition pink color, the company added.
The multitasking smartphone, which was officially unveiled at a global launch event in New York on Wednesday, has a bigger Infinity Display, S Pen with enhanced features and Samsung's best-ever smartphone camera, the company said.
"We appreciate the relentless passion of the Note community. They've been a constant inspiration to us, and we designed the new Note for them," DJ Koh, president of Samsung's Mobile Communications Business, said in the statement.
"From the Infinity Display to the enhanced S Pen, to the powerful Dual Camera, Note8 lets people do things they never thought were possible," he added.
Equipped with a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display, the Galaxy Note8 has the biggest screen ever in the Note series, which was first introduced in 2011, Samsung said.
While the new App Pair feature allows users to simultaneously launch two apps in Multi Window mode, the enhanced S Pen includes a finer tip and improved pressure sensitivity, it said.
The improved Translate feature of the S Pen allows users to hover over text to quickly translate not only individual words, but entire sentences, into 71 languages and instantly convert weights, measurements and foreign currencies, according to Samsung.
In addition, the Galaxy Note8 is the first smartphone with two 12MP rear cameras with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) on both the wide-angle and telephoto lenses, the company said.
In Dual Capture mode, users can take two pictures simultaneously and keep both of them: One close-up shot from the telephoto lens and one wide-angle shot that shows the entire background, it added.
